OUR Mission  |  Our Team  |  Our Alliances  |  petroleum Industry

Peirce Capital Management, LLC (PCM) was founded in June 2007. The motivation to create PCM was to bring the power of academically based investing to investors who will not see those benefits through the traditional brokerage investing model. The gap in value between the two approaches was material enough to drive Wes to a service career.

Our Team

Wes Peirce

Wes Peirce, founder

I graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1980 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. I then pursued a Petroleum Engineering career with ARCO that took me to Denver, Casper, Anchorage, and Venezuela. When BP acquired ARCO, I returned home to Houston, working with Anadarko Petroleum from 2001 to 2007, with my last role as the Reserves and Economics Manager. The Economics role was consistent with my passion for optimizing economic decisions.

I retired from the oil industry in May, 2007 to follow my passion for optimizing the investment approach. Critical to my decision was my belief that an alliance with Buckingham Strategic Partners (BSP) and Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) provided a framework to provide the very highest level of investment strategy and service available to investors today.

I have studied investing from the 1980s to the present. It was an understanding of asset allocation and the management of risk as well as return, that convinced me that most investors could materially improve the efficiency of their portfolios.

A number of activities keep me busy – tennis/pickleball, biking, bridge, reading, and baseball.

Mark Heider

Mark Heider, CFP®, Wealth Advisor

Attracted to the promise of helping families optimize their financial plans with a thoughtful and intentional approach, I joined Wes and Jeanette at Peirce Capital Management, LLC in 2012 as an Associate Wealth Advisor. I became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 2015 and currently serve our clients as a Wealth Advisor. I also oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm.

Prior to joining Wes, I was privileged to have the opportunity to build the track and cross country teams at the University of Sioux Falls (South Dakota). As Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach I helped establish a culture of excellence and values that lead to significant student-athlete signings, meaningful relationships, and championship winning teams.

I enjoyed competing on the cross country and track teams myself before I graduated from Concordia University (Nebraska) in 2003. I majored in Business Administration with a focus on accounting which led to my first job as the accountant of a farm implement dealership outside of Lincoln.

Wes and I go back several years, over 40, actually. He is my mother’s youngest brother, making him my uncle. I recall my interactions with Wes while I was growing up, noting his curiosity, thoughtfulness, cleverness, and patience. He would challenge me with math problems, riddles, and opportunities to think outside-the-box. Some things never change!

I live with my wife, Dani, and our three daughters in The Woodlands, TX. When I’m not trying to keep up with the family, chances are good that you find me in the shop trying my hand at woodworking or on the roads running a few miles. Near the end of 2021 I was fortunate to accomplish the greatest feat of my running career, finishing the Brazos Bend 100 Mile race in under 15 hours.

Brad Berg, Senior Wealth Advisor

I graduated from the University of Alaska in 1982 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and spent 35 years working first for ARCO and then for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation before retiring from the oil industry in 2016. My later roles in the oil industry included serving as the Exploration Reservoir Engineering and Planning Manager, and the Manager of the Economic Consistency Team where I advised senior management on the commercial viability of exploration investment opportunities. In 2013, I was recognized for my work on incorporating uncertainty into investment decision-making when I was selected to be a Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers. During 2013 and 2014, I toured 16 countries where I lectured on the topic to thousands of engineers, scientists and others in the industry.

I have long had a passion for applying risk and uncertainty analysis to personal investing, and I have been a contributor to the “Advisory Board” since PCM’s inception. I enjoy discussing and debating investment strategy with my longtime friend and ‘thought partner’, Wes, and am excited to be working with the incredible team at PCM.

My wife, Ramona, and I live in Conroe. Our son, Forrest, lives in Houston where he works as an engineer for Axiom Space. I serve on the board of ‘Education for Tomorrow Alliance’ (EFTA), a non-profit educational organization that partners with businesses and schools to strengthen education through programs focused on career, leadership and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) preparation. I also serve as the President of the TeasWood Homeowners Association. In my spare time, I enjoy adventure travel, fiddling with robotics, judging science fairs, and pursuing amateur astronomy.

GEORGE WILLIAMSON, CFP®, ChFC®, WEALTH ADVISOR

I joined the PCM team in the spring of 2018 following my graduation from Texas Tech University where I earned a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning. While earning summa cum laude honors, I also volunteered with Red to Black Peer Financial Coaching which provided me with experience guiding peer students through their personal financial issues. I completed the requirements to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2020 and completed the requirements for the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation in 2021.

I was born and raised in Midland, Texas. In 2014, I earned a degree in Natural Resources Management (NRM) also from Texas Tech. I then worked as a Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist in the Denver area. While working in the NRM industry, I discovered that I had a passion and skill set for helping others accomplish their financial goals. My strong analytical and technological skills along with my strong work ethic are a great asset to PCM.

I work remotely from an Airstream travel trailer with my wife Emily, my cat Waldo, and our rambunctious parrot Simon. In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors, growing carnivorous plants, home automation, and photography.

DANIEL BINGHAM, Associate WEALTH ADVISOR

I joined the team in the spring of 2020. I graduated from Thomas Edison State University in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration (B.S.). After a brief stint at a non-profit, I worked at Janus Henderson, an asset manager based in Denver, CO. I then spent four years with a large wealth management firm in Houston as an investment analyst and paraplanner. I helped the group transition from a regional broker-dealer to a hybrid Registered Investment Advisor in 2018.

I recently completed the required education component for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification through Rice University and plan to take the CFP® exam soon.

My wife, Rosie, and I have three children, Ashlyn, Caleb, and Meredith, and we live in New Waverly, Texas. We own a small hobby farm that is just big enough to keep dad out of trouble and dirt under the kids’ fingernails - and has enough stray animals to drive mom crazy.

Jason Peirce

JASON PEIRCE, ASSOCIATE WEALTH ADVISOR

I graduated with my Master’s degree in Economics from George Mason University in 2021. While at Mason, I participated in the Mercatus MA Fellowship where I did policy work with a focus on fiscal policy and economic history. Prior to this, I earned my Bachelor’s degree with Summa Cum Laude honors in Cell and Molecular Biology with minors in Math and Chemistry from Texas Tech University in 2019. I also spent five semesters at Tech learning about political economy in a reading group hosted by the Free Market Institute.

My interdisciplinary background has taught me to integrate multiple viewpoints, and I look forward to using this insight at PCM.

I live in The Woodlands with my wife, Kelcie, and our two dogs, River and Rocky. Outside of work, I enjoy reading and writing, playing frisbee and pickleball with Kelcie, running with coach Mark, and skiing with my family.

Jeanette Peirce

I graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1985 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I began my career in Denver as a project engineer with ARCO, then transferred to Anchorage. Wes and I met on the North Slope of Alaska at the Kuparuk oilfield, and we married six years later. After the birth of our identical twin sons, I became a full-time Mom, and our third son arrived two years later.

I handle the company's finances, provide IT support, and assist with new clients. I’m always in search of a good historical fiction mystery series on audiobook, plus I’m enjoying several history podcasts at the moment.

Petroleum Industry

Wes Peirce spent 25⁺ years as an engineer in the petroleum industry, much of that time spent focused on economic optimization efforts.

Not surprisingly, many PCM clients are in the petroleum industry. PCM has proactively developed expertise in the many areas of petroleum industry compensation.

Optimizing the benefits of 401(k) plans, stock grants, stock options, deferred compensation, and distributions from qualified plans are “part of the passion”.

(One of the services that PCM provides is as an advisor to company 401(k) plans.)
