Peirce Capital Management, LLC (PCM) was founded in June 2007. The motivation to create PCM was to bring the power of academically based investing to investors who will not see those benefits through the traditional brokerage investing model. The gap in value between the two approaches was material enough to drive Wes to a service career.
Wes Peirce
Wes graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1980 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He pursued a Petroleum Engineering career in the Petroleum Industry with ARCO that took him to Denver, Casper, Anchorage, and Venezuela. When BP acquired ARCO, Wes returned home to Houston, working with Anadarko Petroleum from 2001 to 2007, with his last role as the Reserves and Economics Manager. The Economics role was consistent with Wes’ passion regarding the optimization of economic decisions.
Wes retired from the oil industry in May, 2007 to follow his passion for optimizing the investment approach. Critical to Wes’ decision was his belief that his alliance with Buckingham Asset Management (BAM) and Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) provided a framework to provide the very highest level of investment strategy and service available to investors today.
Wes has studied investing from the 80’s to the present. It was an understanding of asset allocation and the management of risk as well as return, that convinced Wes that most investors could materially improve the efficiency of their portfolios.
Wes enjoys keeping up with his sons’ activities, as well as tennis, bridge, reading, and baseball.
Jeanette Peirce
Jeanette graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1985 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She began her career in Denver as a project engineer with ARCO, then transferred to Anchorage. She and Wes met on the North Slope of Alaska, and they married six years later. After the birth of their identical twin sons, Jeanette became a full-time Mom and part-time MacGyver. Their third son arrived two years later. Jeanette provides technical support, bookkeeping support, and administrative help.
Matt Owens
Matt joined PCM in April 2010. Matt previously worked with Protiviti as an Internal Audit Consultant. He left Protiviti to pursue a law degree, but realized that law was not going to be his passion.
Matt is a 2006 graduate of the University of Houston. He has quickly developed expertise in the skills needed to add value and manage risk in our client’s accounts, such as tax loss harvesting, rebalancing, IRA/Roth funding, Monte Carlo Analysis, etc.
Matt and his wife Janette became the proud parents of their first son, Lawton, in July of 2010.
